Very useful info, as our cars get older like us they tend to fall apart (nurse)

Like their owners.

Good advice regarding wedging the bonnet open if one latch is stuck and then cutting the other locking bolt. Tape up the bonnet and bumper before using the hacksaw.

On a nice sunny day whip the bumper and slam panel off and inspect/grease the latch mechanisms, that should prevent the problem and all the hassle of getting open a stuck bonnet.

Hi,

Can anyone let me know if this method will work for a Rover 25 (Facelift 1.4 GLi, 2005)?
Battery has died and we have no way of accessing the car, the key won't work :-(
It's also in a pretty tight garage with not much access room at the front/passenger side.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

Chris.

Do you have a tow hitch ??? Can power up the battery through there if you have.

If not, can you raise the front of the car?

You might be able to get a charger positive lead on to the main terminal on the starter motor or the alternator.
The black charger lead on to the car body as an earth connection.

PS. To anyone reading this thread. In all the many years on trying to hide the info to get the bonnet open NOBODY has ever reported a theft by thieves using the info available, of bonnet access, on line.--------------------

Thanks Colvert,

Afraid no tow hitch. I may just be able to lift one side slightly to get under. I will give that a shot.

Thanks for your help.

Chris.
